In the fall of 2018, The Discourse asked: Where is there growth in local media? Who are these new players and are they having an impact? How can we accelerate the growth of what’s working? We found an emerging sub-sector of the news industry, growing in communities underserved by other media, that is innovative, dynamic, fast-growing, and positioned to have a disproportionate impact on the Canadian news ecosystem.
